Demystifying Lingerie; One Bra At A Time – Part 1

Lingerie is a secret that makes us a little straighter, smile a little wider and just feel all around more confident. And why not, it’s our way of embracing womanhood and expressing the sensual side of our femininity.

However, out of all the other pieces, bra is something that goes through most hardships but gets least love and care. We usually have 5-10 bras, but we chose to rotate only 2-3 of them. The reason can be anything; they can be of the wrong size, uncomfortable or maybe no compatible with your breasts’ shape. Or perhaps, you’re saving them for a special occasion?

And, if that’s your reason, then come on!!! Life’s too short to wear mediocre lingerie. (Jessica Biel was goddamn right, when she said that)

It’s high time you opened that underwear drawer and get that stuff sorted. Don’t worry, I’ll help you break down the 12 bra styles that every woman must own. And, if you don’t, then bra shopping should be your priority right now.

1. T-shirt Bra

A t-shirt bra is the most comfortable one. Not necessarily padded, it is a typical everyday bra with seamless, smooth & molded cups. It enhances your natural shape, creating a slightly more rounded look. In fact, there’s no one who dislikes a t-shirt bra. This type of bra is great under your formal clothes, with your casual clothes, and everything in between!

Moreover, a t-shirt bra doesn’t necessarily have to be full coverage. It can be a demi cup too. It is an add-on to have a nude bra in your drawer, as it can come handy anytime.

2. Unlined Bra

Unlike other bras, an unlined bra only has one piece of fabric across the bust.  It is not only lighter but also less visible under clothing. Even though it doesn’t hold a shape when it isn’t being worn, it offers you a more natural appearance when worn.

Unlined bras are available in many styles, including balconette bra, lace bra, full coverage bra, and many more. Women with small breasts can get away with this one easily. But since all it has is a thin piece of fabric, there is less support in an unlined bra for women with larger breasts; who usually need a lot of support. If it your special night and you want to feel all sexy and perky, then an unlined bra will make you feel particularly feminine, natural, and sexy.

3. Demi Bra

A demi cup bra offers half-coverage to your bust. An ideal choice for those low-cut t-shirts and dresses, this bra tends to create great cleavage. A demi cup bra can be mistaken for a balconette or push-up bra. It offers slightly less coverage than a balconette, and isn’t heavily lined as a push-up.

In fact, a demi cup bra can be your everyday bra like a good old t-shirt bra, due to its simplicity & practicality. It gives a subtle and seamless shape to your bust, devoid of any bumps or lines under your tops.

4. Balconette Bra

Want to feel super sexy today? Opt for a balconette bra and you’ll be totally on a roll. This bra reveals more than other styles. Since, the cup height is shorter and the straps are wide-set, a balconette bra is a perfect choice for an outfit with a low neckline.

This bra, without overdoing your cleavage, plays up with your assets. Meaning, it’s fairly universally flattering among all breast types. It is especially great for those who have a wide breast separation. You’ll find a balconette bra embellished with more detailing than most of the other styles, like pleats, bows, ruffles, lace etc.
